Foliar application of Ca has been recommended to reduce splitting and increase fruit firmness, but its efficiency and effects in relation to other practices are discussed. This article summarises some results of foliar Ca in cherries.

In Chile, the post-transplant survival, canopy growth and productivity of two cultivars were evaluated: Lapins on Colt and Regina on Gisela 12. The cultivars were grown with root volumes of 100%, 50% and 25% and with bare-root or bagged nursery plants.

A study was conducted in Ukraine to determine the impact of different pruning techniques and conditions on young cherry trees. The varieties used were 'Krupnoplidna' and 'Melitopolska Chorna', both grafted onto Colt rootstock.

The tetraploid rootstock known as "Aijie" is characterised by its breakage in mid-March, blossoming in early April, and leaf shedding in November. The results of the tests indicated that “Aijie” induced higher growth rates compared to Gisela 6, three years post-planting.
