The retail system of the Union of Commercial Cooperatives of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon Co.op), including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, and Finelife, organized a cherry festival featuring cherries officially imported from Chile.

Recognized by Tuoi Tre Online at Co.opmart Huynh Tan Phat (District 7), the fresh red cherries, full and vibrant, are displayed in eye-catching positions, easily attracting consumers' attention.

After spending nearly 15 minutes selecting cherries at Co.opmart Huynh Tan Phat, Mrs. Tam Anh (a District 7 resident) expressed her excitement: “It is rare to see fresh cherries with green stems at such low prices. In the past, eating cherries was a luxury, as the price was usually 400,000-500,000 VND/kg.”

Mrs. Anh also shared that last week she purchased 2 kg of cherries from an acquaintance selling online for more than 200,000 VND/kg, but the fruits were very small, not fresh, and not of the same quality as those sold in supermarkets. “I’ll choose about 5 kg to gift to my relatives during Tet,” she added.

According to a representative of Saigon Co.op, before reaching the shelves of Co.opmart, Co.opXtra... and ultimately the consumers, the Chilean cherries underwent rigorous quality inspections: from legal documents, product quality certifications, origin verification, to quality control at the central distribution warehouse and every retail location.

Currently, Saigon Co.op is selling 100 tons of Chilean cherries at a promotional price of 199,000 VND/kg, 20-30% lower than the market price. This is an exclusive price applied throughout the program. On the first day of the launch, statistics showed that more than 20 tons of cherries were consumed.

Present at Co.opmart Huynh Tan Phat on the first day of the Chilean cherry festival, Mr. Pablo Arancibia Salazar—Trade Counselor at the Chilean Embassy—stated that in recent years, with improved living standards, Vietnamese consumers have increasingly preferred imported and nutritious products.

“Therefore, cooperation with Saigon Co.op—Vietnam's leading consumer goods retailer—for the trade of agricultural products from Chile is a great opportunity to promote the brand and increase commercial value,” said the Trade Counselor of the Chilean Embassy.

Vo Tran Ngoc, Commercial Director of Saigon Co.op, emphasized: “Saigon Co.op is always committed to providing products of the highest quality, with clear origins. We regularly coordinate with trade offices in Vietnam to act as a trade bridge, not only for sourcing high-quality imported products but also for expanding export opportunities for Vietnamese products abroad.”
