Exporters of fresh produce from the Australian state of Tasmania are gearing up for a strong presence at the upcoming Asia Fruit Logistica (AFL) event in Hong Kong from September 6-8. Fruit Growers Tasmania, the leading industry organization, will be hosting several Tasmanian companies at their booth during the event.

Peter Cornish, the CEO of Fruit Growers Tasmania, emphasized that Tasmanian growers have been actively investing in their production processes to enhance their offerings for export markets. He added that at the AFL event, they will be accompanied by cherry and apple growers who are deeply committed to expanding their fruit production for international markets. These businesses currently serve loyal customers across various countries and aim to strengthen existing partnerships while forging new ones at Asia Fruit Logistica.

One such success story is Somercotes Cherries, which has transformed from a wool and sheep farm into a thriving cherry orchard located in the northern midlands of Tasmania. With young cherry trees maturing, Somercotes is poised to significantly increase its production, expecting to yield hundreds of tons of large, sweet, dark red, and juicy cherries in the coming years.
