Organic farmers now have an interactive variety search tool at bioactualites.ch. The input and selection fields can be used to perform a targeted search for varieties suitable for a certain species. The results can be displayed in various ways. This interactive variety search replaces certain variety lists previously available in FiBL's online shop.

In response to the changing communication habits of organic farmers, FiBL has made variety information available interactively. On the webpage recherche-varietes.bioactualites.ch it is possible to search for varieties with specific characteristics. The information can be displayed for each variety or in the form of a summary table for a specific species. The summary table can be downloaded and saved as a PDF file.

The bioactualites.ch database contains information on the yield potential, resistance and growth characteristics of a large number of crops. The Bio Suisse seed availability regulation, contact addresses and a list of companies selling seed complete the variety information. On the OrganicXseeds website, there is a direct link to the current seed availability of a particular variety.

Variety searches are currently available for the following crops and crop groups:

  • Cereals
  • Potatoes
  • Fodder crops and other field crops
  • Organic pome fruits
  • Cherries
  • Plums, mirabelle plums

Varietal recommendations for the following crops and crop groups can be downloaded as usual in PDF format from FiBL's online shop:

  • Apricots
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries, blackberries and brambles
  • Currants, blackcurrants and jostas
  • Tall stems
  • Blueberries and mini kiwis
  • Organic fruit and vegetables
