One of the major challenges in cherry production is achieving good yields and large fruit size: the flowering process is fundamental to reaching these goals. This season, we have bud fertility analyses showing normal results; moreover, considering the good winter chill accumulation, we could expect an abundant bloom if spring conditions are favorable.

Ethylene inhibitors

The application of ethylene inhibitors is recommended, especially for self-incompatible varieties or those requiring cross-pollination such as Royal Dawn, Rainier, Bing, Regina, Kordia, in order to keep flowers with a viable pollen tube and a receptive ovary for longer, delaying senescence and extending the fertilization window, thus improving fruit set.
