PDO Cereza del Jerte: new visual identity for greater sustainability

The Regulatory Council renews the corporate image of the Protected Designation of Origin Jerte Cherry. We are launching a new logo, which represents both cherries and DOP picotas.

The goal of this renewal is to adapt the DOP's visual identity to an increasingly digital world. For this reason, we have opted for a minimalist design that ensures readability and gives greater prominence to the certified quality product. Next to the name of the Consejo Regulador, the logo shows a cherry in blue and a cherry in red. They are clearly differentiated by the stem. The cherry without stem, the cherry with stem.

"We believe that it is time to renew it. We have used the previous logo since the creation of the DOP Cereza del Jerte in 1996. We wanted to modernize our image, align it with current trends, and offer a figurative design that includes all the products certified by our Quality Mark," explained the president of DOP Cereza del Jerte, José Antonio Tierno. He also specified that the DOP certifies four varieties of picota and a single variety of cherry.

The new corporate identity for the Jerte cherry designation of origin goes beyond aesthetics. It reinforces the company's commitment to sustainability. The recently launched digital file of the DOP Cereza del Jerte logo is also lighter, which ensures faster download speeds, reduced energy consumption, and consequently a lower environmental impact.

These effects position the Consejo Regulador as an organization committed to caring for the environment and nature, from which the certified cherries and picotas available to consumers come. "We offer a product that comes from the natural cultivation of the Jerte Valley and ensure that this area maintains the properties that give its fruits their unique flavor. For this reason, sustainability is a priority for us," added José Antonio Tierno.

The new image has already been integrated into the website and the social networks of the Regulatory Council. However, the complete renewal will be developed progressively. For this reason, this year the label with the traditional DOP logo will still be available at points of sale.

The evolution will be completed next year, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the creation of the first provisional Regulatory Council of the DOP Cereza del Jerte in 1995. It will be then that the boxes of cherries and Jerte picotas will arrive on the market with the new logo.
