The cherry producers of the western province of Manisa, Turkey, are starting the season with great optimism. With the arrival of the inaugural harvest, there is growing confidence in maintaining the high quality standards that characterize the region.

In the orchards of the Sancaklıbozköy neighborhood, in the district of Şehzadeler, activity is bustling as producers prepare for the season. Ilyas Coşkuner, a local grower, shares his satisfaction with the early harvest and hopes it will lead to a fruitful season.

Coşkuner explains, "We started picking on April 13th and today is the third day. The harvest season lasts two months in our area and includes a wide range of cherry varieties. We are confident about the yield and market prices, despite the high labor costs. We hope prices don't fall below 100-150 Turkish lira (3-4.6 dollars) per kilogram on average."

The cherries of Şehzadeler are known not only for their flavor but also for their economic value, with a significant portion destined for export to European countries, Russia, Eastern markets, and Iraq.

The harvest season was inaugurated with a ceremony attended by local authorities, including Mayor Gülşah Dürbay, who emphasized the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and expressed hopes for a fruitful season. "I trust in the collaboration of all citizens to preserve the organic nature of our cherries and reduce environmental impact, following the path of sustainability."
