China is placing a strong emphasis on the production of extra-early cherries

Exclusively for Cherry Times readers, a photo report on the first “Made in China” cherries available in supermarkets of the Asian giant during week 15 (second week of April).

China’s cherry production is rapidly growing and is expected to exceed one million tons this year, with more than 200,000 hectares planted with cherry trees. The eastern province of Shandong is the production hub, followed by Liaoning, Hebei, Shaanxi, and Beijing. Dalian, in Liaoning province, is a global leader in the production of extra-early greenhouse-grown cherries, with a dedicated area of حوالي 7,000 hectares.
