Turkey is the leading country in cherry production with 23.7% of world product

In 2022, Turkey took the top spot in cherry production, recording 656,041 tons, according to a comparison of 64 countries. In second and third place were Chile and Uzbekistan. On the other side of the ranking, Peru produced only 2.64 tons, followed by Luxembourg and Lithuania with 20.0 tons each.

Data provided by Faostat indicate that global cherry production in 2022 reached 2,765,827 tons, marking a 0.30% increase from the previous year and a remarkable 20.1 percent increase from 10 years ago. Total production hit an all-time high in 2022, while back in 1965 it had hit an all-time low of 1,112,663 tons. The average annual growth since 1961 has been 1.25 percent.
