The sale of Chilean cherries in China generates high expectations in the Asian country every year, and the growth of the market has allowed them to diversify the means by which the fruit is sold after its arrival.

Thus, importers have expanded their sales network through streaming services, hiring broadcasting companies and influencers with a high audience to make sales mainly through TikTok and Red Book.

"In terms of volume, about 5% to 7% of total sales are sold online", Andres Nawrath, Market Manager Asia at Copefrut, explains to Portalfruticola.

Regarding the price, Nawrath comments that it is low, as it is very competitive. However, sales are made every day during the season, 'especially at dinnertime'.

Chinese consumer behaviour is very well suited to this type of sales, which is why it is a mode that has grown so much in recent years.

"They are impulsive consumers", says Nawrath. "They buy quickly through the phone, with home delivery and receive instant information about the product, its attributes, size, etc."

This season, Chile expects to export a total of 81,477,564 boxes (5 kg/cu) to China.
